A former Lansford resident is the victim in a homicide investigation in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge have labeled the death of Lawrence E. Purcell Jr., 34, of Kunkletown, a homicide, but have released no information concerning the case.Purcell’s body was found at 1289 Glenwood Road, in Chestnuthill Township, about 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday. He died of a gunshot wound.Purcell formerly lived at 6 Leisenring St., Lansford, where he was a victim of an assault incident on Sept. 28, 2014.Trooper said  that the investigation is ongoing and that ask any person with information relevant to the investigation to call the barracks at 570-646-2271.
