Linda S. Micklos has announced her candidacy in the May 16 primary. She is seeking re-electionas a Pleasant Valley School Board director.

Micklos, originally from Wind Gap, has resided in Effort, Polk Township, for more than 40 years with her husband, Michael. They have two children, Trevor and Justin, who are graduates of Pleasant Valley High School, and two grandchildren, Josetta and Caleb.Micklos received her radiology certification from Temple University and was employed as a dental assistant for 12 years. She returned to school to obtain her dental hygiene degree from Northampton, where she graduated summa cum laude. She is an active member of the Lehigh Valley Dental Hygienist Association and a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association for 23 years. She was accepted into the Pennsylvania Dental Hygiene Academy and has been a member for 21 years. Micklos is a Registered Dental Hygienist and is employed at Harleman Dentistry in Brodheadsville.Micklos volunteered her time to many students' academic and athletic activities while her children were attending Pleasant Valley. She was a parent classroom volunteer and member of the PTO during the elementary years of her children's education. Her school involvement continued as she became an active member with the Pleasant Valley All Sports Club for over eight years.In addition to her responsibilities as a Pleasant Valley school director, she serves as a member on the Joint Operating Committee of Monroe County Technical Institute.As an active member of her community, she is a member of the Polk Township Ladies Auxiliary and donates her time helping with the monthly Sunday breakfast social."A school director is charged with making difficult decisions that impact all levels of our community. The education of our students is foremost, but being mindful of the community that supports these students is also important. Homeowners are our primary tax base. Maintaining a 0 percent increase on property taxes while continuing to support our students with the necessary tools that take them into the 21st century is a priority. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our students and community."
