Two drivers involved in one vehicle crashes on area roadways are facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
State police at Fern Ridge said a one vehicle accident occurred on Monday, June 18, time not listed on the report, along Golden Slipper Road, in Jackson Township, Monroe County.Troopers said Eric Graff, 32, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck westbound, just east of Reeders Run Road, when the vehicle went onto the right shoulder and struck a tree. Graff had to be extricated from the wreckage by rescue personnel.Troopers said they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Graff. Graff was flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of injuries. Troopers noted that Graff was driving under suspension-DUI related.Troopers said the DUI charge is pending blood test results.The second DUI-related crash occurred about 8:11 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said John Peters Jr., 56, of Mountain Top, Luzerne County, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck westbound when the vehicle went onto the berm. Peters re-entered the road briefly, then went back onto the berm where the truck struck a large tree before coming to rest.Peters had to be extricated from the wreckage and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Township, by Lake Harmony ambulance. Assisting at the scene were volunteers from the Lake Harmony Fire Company and Lehighton paramedic unit.The police report indicates a DUI charge is pending blood test results.
