Jim Thorpe police are investigating an overnight burglary at Dee Zines Flower and Gifts on Walnut Avenue in the borough.

According to Det. Lee Marzen, a cash register and a small amount of money were taken between 6:30 p.m. on Sunday night and 9 a.m. on Monday morning.Dee Zines Owner Denise Sebelin said it appears someone removed a screen and pried a back window open to enter the store."I came in this morning and noticed the cash register was not on the counter," Sebelin said. "At first I thought maybe one of the cats knocked it down, but there was all kind of stuff on the floor and I saw the front door was unlocked."While the thief made off with the register, they won't find much inside. Sebelin said only some coins and around $10 made up the register's contents.Sebelin also has a cockatoo and several cats in the store, but they were accounted for and unharmed."The window was wide open so I was very concerned about that, but all the animals are here and ok," she said.
