A Northampton County man entered guilty pleas to two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police on Tuesday in Carbon County court before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Justin Craig Heimbach, 24, of Bethlehem, admitted to the two counts for incidents that occurred on March 12. He also pleaded to one count each of driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, and resisting arrest.Kidder Township police attempted to stop Heimbach along Route 903 for a vehicle violation. He refused to stop and a chase ensued.Township police abandoned the chase due to safety reasons.A few minutes later state police at Fern Ridge spotted Heimbach along Interstate 80 and gave pursuit. Another chase ensued with speeds reaching 120 mph.The chase continued along the interstate into Luzerne County and onto Route 309. Then Heimbach re-entered I-80 before his vehicle left the road and went up an embankment. He tried to back down the embankment with his vehicle striking a state police cruiser.The chase ended at that location. While being taken into custody he struggled with officers and resisted arrest. He was found to be under the influence. In all he was originally charged with two felonies, four misdemeanors and 12 summary motor vehicle code violations.Heimbach is currently an inmate in the Monroe County prison facing charges in that county.Matika deferred sentencing because Heimbach needs a drug and alcohol evaluation for the DUI charge.
