A Carbon County man involved in a kidnapping incident earlier this year entered a guilty plea on Tuesday in Carbon County court before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Theodore Franklin Brantley Jr., 43, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and the summary offense of harassment. In exchange for the plea charges of kidnapping of minor — ransom/hostage, kidnap to inflict injury/terror, unlawful restraint of minor/not parent — involuntary servitude and simple assault were dropped.Brantley was arrested for an incident on May 29 by state police at Fern Ridge. Troopers said Brantley went to the residence of Christopher Sommers and force him and his then 10-year-old son into a vehicle and drove them to the Slatington Marketplace. At the marketplace Brantley forced Sommers to do carpentry work on a ramp at the facility.Brantley had claimed that Sommers was hired to do the work but never did. Troopers also charged Brantley with damaging vehicles belonging to Sommers. The recklessly endangering count lists Sommers’ son as the victim.Nanovic accepted the plea but deferred sentencing because there is a dispute over the amount of restitution due the victim.
