NY man gets prison term in Carbon on drug count

A New York state man was sentenced to a county prison term Thursday in Carbon County court after previously pleading to a drug charge.

Darryl Lettley, 46, of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to serve nine to one day less 24 months in the county prison on a charge of criminal conspiracy - possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - crack cocaine.Lettley, 46, and Arden L. Scott, 46, of Orlando, Florida, were arrested on Oct. 11, 2015, along Interstate 80. State police at Fern Ridge stopped a vehicle operated by Scott in which Lettley was a passenger. Troopers requested to search the vehicle but were at first denied. As the officers waited for a K-9 unit to arrive, Scott fled the scene. Following a short chase he was stopped and both men were taken into custody. Crack cocaine was found in the vehicle. Lettley admitted it was his.Scott previously pleaded to one count of fleeing or attempting to elude police with drug counts dropped in a plea bargain. He was fined $600 and told by Matika to return to Florida.Matika also ordered Lettley to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, render 75 hours of community service when paroled, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.He was given credit for 11 days spent in jail on the charge. He will begin the jail term at noon on March 10.
