Organizers of the Carbon County Fair are seeking volunteers for a variety of opportunities.

"This is our 15th consecutive fair, and each year it continues to grow because we have so many dedicated volunteers who help ensure our success," said fair President Bob Silliman."The fair has some of the finest volunteers from our county, and surrounding areas," said Liz McElwee, volunteer coordinator. "It's all about having fun and so many of our volunteers return year after year they enjoy doing what they do best volunteering and they enjoy being part of our fair family."Each year at least two volunteers are recognized by the association during the opening ceremony. Last year's volunteers, who were recognized during the opening ceremony, included Judy Shutack of Jim Thorpe and the 4-H Livestock Club.Sessions for people requiring community service are scheduled for Saturdays, June 21 and 28 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.McElwee said volunteer opportunities available including, preparing and cleaning up of fairgrounds, office assisting, selling tickets, taking tickets, stamping hands, sharing information to fairgoers, providing security, parking cars and assisting in the agriculture area.For more information about getting involved contact McElwee at 570-449-1268 or email the fair at
