Six defendants charged with driving under the influence and related charges entered guilty pleas last Friday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:Stephen Harold Trotman, 23, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 13, 2015, along Route 443 by Mahoning Township police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. Trotman was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.Sentencing was deferred so Trotman could obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Robert Reimold, 50, of Weatherly, was arrested on Nov. 8, 2015, by Weatherly police near the intersection of Hudsondale and Packer streets. A test showed 0.21 BAC.A first offense, Reimold was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.David Richard Merwarth, 22, of Catasauqua, was arrested on March 12 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of fleeing or attempting to elude as he failed to immediately stop when troopers attempted a traffic stop for speeding.Sentencing was deferred.Christopher John Perez, 24, of Newark, Delaware, was arrested on Feb. 28 along Lapuma Drive at South Lake Drive in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.17 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Perez can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and apply for the Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.Michael Andrew Helmer, 20, of Albrightsville, was arrested on March 5 along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.08 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.William Barry Snitzer, 31, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Aug. 30, 2015, along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.13 BAC.He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole. He began the jail term immediately. Snitzer previously pleaded guilty to the charge but had his sentencing deferred from July 5.
