Two defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced Tuesday in the county court by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Melissa Sue A. Dieter,32, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 48 hours to 60 months in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, have her license suspended for 18 months, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 100 hours of community service. On a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, she was placed on probation for 24 months, consecutive to the DUI charge, and must render an addition 100 hours of community service.She was arrested on Aug. 8, 2015, along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.09 BAC.Shaun Austin Mann,21, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of simple assault, he was placed on probation for a year, consecutive to the DUI charge, and must render an additional 50 hours of community service and pay restitution of $732.He was arrested on Jan. 12, 2015, by Lehighton police along First Street. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.
