An incumbent councilman lost and two other current members won nominations in borough council balloting on Tuesday in Summit Hill Borough.

Four people sought three nominations for four-year terms on the council with William J. O'Gurek Jr. emerging as the top vote recipient with 321. Newcomer Debra Ranck followed with 216 votes, as did incumbent William Chapman with 203.Losing out in his re-election bid was John J. O'Gurek Jr., who tallied 195 votes.Mayor Paul R. McArdle, a Democrat, is running for re-election to another four-year term. He was unopposed on both tickets and received 319 token votes from party members.The borough's new tax collector, come 2018, will be Kathleen Crampsie, also a Democrat. She will succeed longtime tax collector Alice Kane, who is retiring.Crampsie was unopposed Tuesday both within the Democratic Party and on the GOP side as well. She tallied the highest vote total among town candidates, receiving 352 complimentary votes from Democratic voters.NesquehoningFor the first time in many years, maybe ever, Nesquehoning had a shortage of candidates.Mayor Sam Kitchko is a registered Independent, and his name did not appear on the primary election ballot. He is running for re-election to another four-year term and will be on the town's ballot in November.The town's voters are also expected to elect three people to four-year terms on the borough council and one person to a two-year term. But there was only one candidate Tuesday, that being Democrat Rosemary Porembo, an incumbent Democrat. She received 184 token votes from party members.Longtime tax collector Patricia R. Vito is running for re-election to another four-year term and is unopposed on both tickets. A Democrat, she collected 220 token votes from party members Tuesday.
