Tuesday night during its yearly reorganization meeting, the Mahoning Township Board of Supervisors appointed Franklin Ruch as chairman.
The former chairman, John Wieczorek, was moved to vice chairman for the remainder of the year.Along with the changing of the chairman, the board appointed two part-time police officers, Gabriel Szozda and Joel Gulla, to the force at a rate of $22.50."It's a lot cheaper than the time and a half we were paying," said Supervisor Bruce Steigerwalt."It makes it more worth their while to fill the shifts," Ruch said.Wieczorek and supervisor Brian Reeser will head up the police department committee.Nevin Frey was appointed to the position of roadmaster at a rate of $24 per hour while Carl Faust of Blue Mountain Inspection Services remains zoning and building code officer at a rate of $500 per month.The board passed its new monthly meeting schedule for the second and fourth Wednesday at 6 p.m. The next meeting is to be held at the township building on Jan. 11.
