Franklin Township zoning officer, Carl Faust, sent out violation letters to several homes.

One resident received a letter for having buildings on their property without receiving proper permits.Another property on State Road received a letter for high grass and weeds.A property owner on Red Hill Road received a letter for having garbage on her property. Faust said the homeowner has issues each year with her property.Faust is taking the issue to the magistrate if she does not have the property cleaned within the 30-day window of receiving the violation letter.A property at 469 Forest St. has an illegal landfill on the premises. Faust contacted the Department of Environmental Protection three times to have the property examined.Other businessApproximately $85,000 in block grants will be awarded to Franklin Township for improvements that will benefit 72 percent of low- to moderate-income people in the project area.The board approved a bid for road materials from Lehigh Asphalt.The board accepted a bid from Schiffer Bituminous Service Co. for various sealing on roads in Franklin Township costing approximately $77,435.The township received $10,000 from the Carbon County Community Fund Foundation to proceed with updates and additions to Phifer's Ice Dam Park.Kim Rabenold will replace Charles Fritz as a member of the Franklin Township Planning Commission.Robert Correll was appointed to the Franklin Township Agricultural Security Area Board.
