Four people, who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges, were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.

Senior Judge Leonard N. Zito, of Northampton County and specially presiding, imposed sentences on the following:Christopher James Fusco, 20, of Brockton, Massachusetts, was arrested on May 8, 2015, along Maury Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in prison, pay a fine of $1,500 and his license was suspended for 18 months. Fusco is an inmate in the county prison and recently completed a prison term imposed in Lehigh County. He was given credit for six days spent in jail on the DUI count.Christopher L. Bessiere, 29, of Breinigsville, Lehigh County, was arrested on Nov. 27by Lehighton police along First Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the Intermediate Punishment Program with the first 60 days spent on electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 and his license was suspended for 18 months.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. April 16 and serve it on consecutive weekends.Ronald Lee Strohl II, 43, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 16along First Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.20 BAC.He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300 and one-year license suspension. On two summary motor vehicle code violations he was fined$225 and costs.He will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. April 21 and serve three days and at 5 p.m. April 28 and serve two days.Stanley Ervin Haydt, 44, of Lehighton, was charged by state police at Lehighton for riding his bicycle while under the influence on Sept. 18 on Bridge Street, Lehighton.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a $300 fine.Suspension/weaponJustin A. Taylor, 26, of Pen Argyl, previously pleaded to one count of possession of an offensive weapon - brass knuckles. He was arrested by Palmerton police in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue on May 21. At the stop, police learned he was driving under suspension - DUI related, to which he also pleaded.On the suspension count he was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and his license was suspended for a year. On the weapons count he was placed on probation for a year.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. April 21 and serve it on consecutive weekends.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
