Carbon County court - DUI
A total of eight defendants entered guilty pleas on Thursday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence and related charges.
Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:Garett Corie Anthony, 25, of Palmerton, was arrested on Nov. 26, 2015, by Palmerton police. He also pleaded to flight to avoid apprehension and possession of drug paraphernalia.Police attempted to stop his vehicle for an equipment violation in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue. He fled a short distance, stopped his vehicle and then fled on foot. He was eventually caught. The paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass deferred sentencing so Anthony can get a drug and alcohol evaluation.Herman Thomas McFarland Jr.,50, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 4, 2015, along Route 248 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so McFarland can get a drug and alcohol evaluation.Kayla Marie Toth,23, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 5, 2015, along Route 209 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced her to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. May 20.Glenn John Fisher,27, of Albrightsville, formerly of Lehighton, was arrested on July 5, 2015, along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.18 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Fisher could apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.Howard Eugene Wolfe,56, of Saylorsburg, was arrested on Sept. 4, 2015, along Little Gap Road by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.21 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for the IPP.Ryan Michael Rickley,33, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 24, 2015, along North Street by Lehighton police. He also pleaded to a count of restrictions on alcohol as police found an open container of beer in the vehicle.A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service. On the summary offense he was fined $25 and costs.Tyler S. Grohotolski,26, of Palmerton, was arrested on July 5 2015, along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for 14 days spent in jail on the charge and was paroled.Daniel Patrick McGoldrick,22, of Lehighton, and formerly of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 19, 2015, along Pohopoco Drive in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for placement in the IPP.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
