A Blythe Township couple is homeless after a raging fire destroyed their home on Saturday afternoon. Firefighters were dispatched to 79 Silver Brook Road, just north of NewPhiladelphia, at 2:39 p.m., and found flames shooting from the windows and roof. It took firefighters from five companies more than two hours to control the blaze at the home of Jerry and Linda Fogarty, leaving nothing but a shell behind. The fire appeared to be electrical in nature, but a state police fire marshal will be called in to investigate. Responding fire companies included the Tuscarora Fire Company, Kaska Fire Company, New Philadelphia's Good Intent Fire Company, Port Carbon's Goodwill Number 1 Fire Company and the Cumbola Goodwill Hose Fire Company.
