A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Monday on a charge of corruption of a minor count.
Brian S. Kibler, 40, of Palmerton, who previously pleaded guilty to the charge, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve one day less 12 to one day less 24 months in prison. However, he won't be spending any more time in jail as he was given credit for 699 days already spent in prison of the charge.State police at Lehighton charged Kibler with the offenses after the victim, who was a 10- to 11-year-old girl at the time, told them she knew Kibler, and sometime during 2011 she went to his home in Franklin Township and spent the night. She told troopers that Kibler had her dress in a thong and watch pornography with him. She further told troopers that Kibler had her perform a sex act. When Kibler was interviewed by trooper Nicolas De La Iglesia, he admitted to the charges.Kibler underwent an evaluation by the state sexual assessment board to determine if he was a sexually violent predator. The board ruled he was not.In addition to the jail term, Serfass ordered Kibler to have no contact with the victim, render 100 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 monthly supervision fee while on parole, and must register as a sexual offender for the next 15 years under the provisions of Megan's Law.
