Six defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Friday before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Palmerton theftShawn Jeffrey Reinhart, 35, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property.He was arrested by Palmerton police on Jan. 29 at the Rite Aid pharmacy along Delaware Avenue. He was one of four arrested for shoplifting at the store.Sentencing was transferred to Judge Steven R. Serfass, who has another proceeding involving Reinhart, which is scheduled for sentencing later this month.Other pleasLeslie Leonard Schull III, 43, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of simple assault.He was arrested on Nov. 24, 2016, at aWest Bertsch Street residence, by Lansford police involving a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. He admitted assaulting her. He was recently sentenced on another matter involving the same female victim.Matika placed him on probation for a year, concurrent with the other case, and ordered him to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.Tammu Jean Heiserman, 41, of Palmerton, pleaded in two pending cases to one count each of theft of services and retail theft.She was arrested on the theft of services charge on June 1, 2016, by Weatherly police. The borough electric department discontinued electrical service at a Lauderburn Street property where Heiserman was living at the time because of nonpayment of a bill. After a few days the workers returned to the property and found that the service had been reconnected.The retail theft occurred on June 27, 2016, at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township.On the retail theft charge Matika placed her on probation for 18 months and ordered her to make restitution to Walmart for $158.08 and render 75 hours of community service. On the second count she was placed on probation for the same term, concurrent, and ordered her to make restitution to Weatherly borough for $305.31.Jessie Lee James, 46, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of false identification to law enforcement.He was charged by Kidder Township police for an incident on April 27 during a vehicle stop. He gave police a false name. He said he did it because he knew there was a warrant for his arrest out of New York.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render 50 hours of community service.Jarelyn Rivera, 20, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of retail theft.She was arrested on Feb. 21 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. There are two co-defendants in the case.Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to make restitution to Walmart of $138.11, her share, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.Jessalyn Maree Rider, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of retail theft.She was arrested on Jan. 15 at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. She pushed a cart full of items out the front door without paying for the items.Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to make restitution of $455.05 to Walmart, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
