Spring is a popular time to find pregnant cats and their litters.
It is also a popular time for people to bring these animals at area shelters like Carbon County Friends of Animals in Jim Thorpe because they think their mother has abandoned them.To help these animals find loving families, the shelter is hoping to entice people to adopt a feline this month by offering a reduced adoption rate."We are now having a reduced adoption rate special for the month of June," said Kimmy Mulik of CCFOA."It is important that we are able to continue to provide adequate care to our furry family and that is only possible with your support."Rates for the month of June will be $35 for adult cats, $30 for senior felines over the age of 8, and $40 for kittens.CCFOA will also host a kitten shower from noon to 4 p.m. June 25 at the shelter, 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe. The shower will include opportunities for the public to donate to the organization, see all the available cats and more.Donations could be bottles, small blankets, towels, heating pads, money, cleaning supplies and more. For more information on ways to help or the Kitten Shower, call the shelter at 570-325-9400 or visit
