Cat shelter lowers fees for February

Carbon County Friends of Animals wants to help you find your valentine.

The cat shelter is currently reducing its adoption fees for the month of February in the hopes of finding forever homes for a few of their felines."Call it our Valentine's special," said Kimmy Mulik, board member of CCFOA.Cats under the age of 1 are $50, while all other felines are $35.There is also one special cat, Natalie, a shy tabby who has been at the shelter since Dec. 13, 2011, who can be yours for only $15.Adopters must complete an application and be approved before an adoption can take place."We love these cats and consider them family," the shelter said. "All we want is for them to have loving, caring homes."In addition, CCFOA is also in need of the community's help. The all-volunteer organization needs a desk, laptop and two computers for their operations; as well as Purina cat food and kitten chow, baby rice cereal, cat nail clippers, bleach, non-clumping cat litter, hand soap, cleaning supplies and stationery. If anyone would like to donate any of these items, or find out other ways to help, contact the shelter, located at 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe, at 570-325-9400 or visit ccfoa.info.CCFOA is available for adoptions between noon to 4 daily.
