An interim principal is filling in for the principal at S.S. Palmer Elementary School and Parkside Education Center.

According to the Palmerton Area School District website, Dan Heaney, the district’s director of technology, will be the interim principal.Superintendent Scot Engler would not disclose how long she would be gone or if she will be permanently replaced.According to parents who called the newspaper about the principal’s absence, the school district did not given them any information about her absence either.Brumbach joined the school district as principal of both schools in 2010, according to records. Her position was made effective on March 22 of that year. Prior to that, she worked as the assistant principal at Nottingham Elementary School in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County.Before Brumbach arrived, the principal position had been supervised by several district administrators. The position had been vacated in August 2009 when Paul Rearden took a new principal position at Peters Elementary School in Northern Lehigh School District.
