Santa traded in his sleigh and reindeer for a firetruck in Lansford on Sunday evening. Santa stopped by 14 houses to greet children and bring them gifts.

Operation Santa Claus has been going on for about five or six years, according to fire chief Joe Greco.The even is sponsored by Lansford Alive! which is a community organization looking to revitalize Lansford back to its former glory.All of the money raised goes directly to the fire company."This fundraiser is easy and low cost," said Greco. "We use the money to buy and maintain equipment."The children all couldn't believe Santa was in their home. The bright eyes, open mouths and happiness is what drives the volunteers to continue this each year.Parents supplied gifts to the fire company to give to the children when Santa came to visit. The firetruck was decked in full holiday cheer, complete with lights, a wreath and Christmas music playing."The one thing as a fire company we enjoy seeing is people smiling instead of being there on the worst day of their life," said Greco. "It's nice to see the children smiling and a great way to spread the Christmas spirit."
