A Lehigh County man is in jail for 1,000 counts of downloading child pornography.

 Raymond Snyder, 62, of Slatington, was charged Tuesday with 500 counts each of possession of child pornography, and criminal use of a communication facility.He was arraigned by District Judge Rod Beck of Slatington, and sent to Lehigh County Jail under $100,000 bail.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Kevin W. Smith of the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office:On May 9, Smith received a report from the Slatington Police Department regarding a complaint of Snyder downloading images of naked children to his computer in his apartment on Factory Street.On May 17, Smith conducted an interview with the complaintant who informed him that she had approached Snyder and asked if he had “child porn” on his computer, and he replied that he did, but that he deleted it.On May 26, Smith, along with county Detective Paul Iannace and Slatington Detective Timothy Wagner, went to Snyder’s place to speak with him, at which time they interviewed him.During the course of the interview, Snyder admitted that he had, in fact, downloaded images of naked children on his computer, and that he had downloaded more than 100 such images.Snyder’s three desktop computers, two flash drives and external hard drive were taken into custody and brought to the Petzold Digital Forensic Laboratory for analysis.Forensic analysis were conducted, and revealed that they contained about 1,000 images of prepubescent children, including some images that contained sexual acts.Snyder’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesdayat Central Court in Allentown.
