At last night's meeting of Washington Township Supervisors, zoning officer Justin Yaich said he has been receiving complaints about speeding in Emerald. He asked for permission to have PennDOT do a speed study. The results may permit a lowering of the speed limits.
One bid was received for the air breathing system for Star Hose Company of Emerald. It is from Compressed Air Systems of Buckingham and is for $37,727.A transfer of $30,000 will be made into Star Hose Company's emergency vehicle fund. This is a combination of accumulated funds in the emergency vehicle fund held by the township, plus this year's donation.An ordinance will be advertised to turn the earned income tax collection over to the county. This is a required ordinance.Contracts for gas-diesel and stone-aggregate will be extended until new bids are awarded. Bids are being advertised for gas-diesel, stone-aggregate and fuel oil.The Lehigh County Association of Township Officers' meeting will be held Sept. 9. Permission was given for any officers who want to attend to do so.The property maintenance code permits an appeal. A fee has been set to cover township costs for the appeal.Under public comment William Kistler asked if branches over County Bridge could be trimmed. It is a one-lane bridge and oncoming traffic cannot be seen because the approach is around a sharp corner.Supervisors will see that it is cleared of branches obstructing the view.
