Class luncheons, parties

The members of the Jim Thorpe High School Class of 1965 will hold their monthly luncheon and Christmas party at noon on Dec. 15 at A Ca Mia Restaurant in Walnutport. Those planning to attend are reminded that there will be a gift exchange, as well as donations of nonperishable items for the local food pantries. Also being accepted will be paper products and health care items.The Jim Thorpe High School Class of 1964 will hold its Christmas party at noon Dec. 21 at the former Blue Ridge Country Club in Palmerton. It was suggested at the last gathering that instead of a gift exchange, members should bring in used or new winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves for the homeless who live in the Jim Thorpe and Lehighton areas. Also, K-Cups will be collected for the troops and food for the food pantries.Nativity displayIn conjunction with the Old Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe, St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will be presenting its ninth annual Nativity display from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The items will be displayed in the Fellowship Hall of the church.Toys for TotsThe following are the list of dates for the annual Toys for Tots campaign registration. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salem Bible Fellowship Church, 1105 Fredericks Grove Road in Lehighton on Friday, Saturday and Dec. 9 and 10.This is the only location for registration and no phone calls will be accepted.If you have any questions about the eligibility for this program, call Ed at 570-325-2408.Contact Ann Louise Hayes at 570-325-4435.
