With one day of competition complete, North Carbon County seniors from Panther Valley, Jim Thorpe and Weatherly are leading the pack in points during the 2017 Carbon County Senior Games with a combined score of 124.

But who will capture the Commissioners' Cup? Will it be returning champions South Carbon County, which is made up of Lehighton and Palmerton seniors, or will the title go back to the North? Only time will tell.Senior Games officials report that Lehighton's score for the day is 73 and Palmerton has a score of 19, bringing the combined team's score to 92; while Panther Valley has 53; Jim Thorpe, 70; and Weatherly, 1.With a close race starting to form, it's anybody's guess who will be this year's top dog.The first-day events included shuffleboard and cornhole toss.A point system is attached to each medal.
