Four of six defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges, were sentenced to jail terms on Thursday in Carbon County court.

Matika presided.Two countsTucker William Mangiamele, 23, of Lehighton, was also sentenced on two counts of DUI.He was arrested on the first count on March 23, 2016, and the second on June 3, 2016, both by Lehighton police. In both cases a test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, stemming from the first stop.In the one DUI case he had overdosed and was saved by responding police, according to defense counsel Matthew Rapa. Rapa said since his arrest, Mangiamele has addressed an addiction problem by entering inpatient rehabilitation programs and successfully completing them. He is currently living in a facility in Monroe County where he is continuing counseling and being tested regularly.On the first count Matika sentenced him to serve 90 days to five years in prison, a fine of $1,500, his license was suspended for 18 months, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and render a total of 150 hours of community service when paroled.On the second DUI he was sentenced to serve 90 days in prison followed by 57 months in the county's IPP, with the first nine months on electronic monitoring, a fine of $2,500 and another 18 months' suspension. He was given credit for 90 days spent in the rehab program and paroled. The prison terms run concurrently.On the paraphernalia charge he was fined $100.Other casesRobert L. Gerhold Jr., 49, of East Stroudsburg, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for nine days spent in jail on the charge and paroled.He was arrested on Aug. 28, 2010, along Broad Street by Beaver Meadows police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Bambi Ravanna Kearns, 34, of Newfoundland, Wayne County, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia she was placed on probation for a year, concurrent to the DUI count.She was arrested on June 27, 2016, along Wilbur Street by Weatherly police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She began the jail term at 2 p.m. March 3.Luis Rosado, 26, of West Hazleton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of false identification to law enforcement he was placed on probation for six months, concurrent to the DUI charge.He was arrested on March 16, 2016, along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. March 13.Shane James Perschy, 41, of Palmerton, was placed on probation for six months, a fine of $300 and render 50 hours of community service. On a charge of resisting arrest he was placed on probation of one year, concurrent with the DUI charge.He was arrested on April 3, 2016, by Palmerton police following a traffic stop. At the stop Perschy became unruly. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.Kimberly Anne Arendt, 30, of Lehighton, was placed on probation for six months, a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.She was arrested on Dec. 5, 2014, along Harrity Road by Franklin Township police. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC.The term runs concurrent with a probation period she is serving on a drug charge.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol report.
