An urgent care facility is set to open Monday in West Penn Township.

The St. Luke’s Care Now — West Penn, is located at 2092 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold, along routes 309 and 895.An open house is scheduled at the facility from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and those who attend can meet the St. Luke’s Care Now team, receive a complimentary cholesterol and gait/walking screening, a free St. Luke’s blue gel ice pack and light refreshments.The facility has laboratory services for blood tests, an X-ray facility and a large physical therapy and wellness program.The facility also offers fast, convenient care for minor illnesses and injuries when patients’ primary care doctors aren’t available to see them immediately.But, perhaps above all else, it provides faster walk-in care and at a lower cost than an emergency room visit, and no appointment isneeded.Joseph Cunningham, director of urgent care, St. Luke’s University Health Network, said, “It’s walk-in care treating common illnesses at a lower cost than the ER.”“We want to improve the access to quality health care for the folks of the West Penn community,” Cunningham said. “We’re really excited about it, they really can use what we can provide.”Care is also provided for acute illnesses including the common cold, fever and flulike symptoms, sinus infections, bronchitis and other acute ailments. Patients will also receive care for sprains, strains, broken bones, dislocations, cuts, minor burns and animal bites.The walk-in care center provides lab and X-ray services. Outpatient physical therapy services are offered and available by appointment. Occupational medicine services are also available to employers.The Care Now Office hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.The building most recently housed Santander Bank before it closed several years ago. Before that, it had been Miners Bank.Across the street, the Physical Therapy at St. Luke’s will close, with a big part of it moving into the new facility.
