Pleasant Valley inducts 3 into Hall of Fame
Pleasant Valley School District Friday night honored three inductees into the 2015 Pleasant Valley Hall of Fame.
They are:Anthony "Tony" A. Fadule received his bachelor of science degree from Penn State University in 1980, and his master's degree from Lehigh University in 1982.Fadule, who attended ESU for post graduate degree courses, was an assistant principal for four years and assistant superintendent for 18 years at Pleasant Valley.He graduated from Hazleton High School in 1976. He was a two-year letter winner in basketball and baseball and was also vice president of the National Honor Society while at Hazleton High School.While at Pleasant Valley, Faydule was a winner of the United Way of Monroe County Education Division Service Award.He was also the recipient of the Department of Defense National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Award.Fadule served on the Monroe County Sesquicentennial Committee, The United Way of Monroe County, Pleasant Valley School District PTOs, and many different Pleasant Valley School District Administrative Team projects.He served under five of the six superintendents who were employed by the Pleasant Valley School District. These included Dr. John Nye, Kenneth Reid, Dr. Frank Pullo, Dr. Doug Arnold and Carole Geary.Fadule retired from the Pleasant Valley School District in 2013.He lives in Hazle Township, with his wife Jean of 28 years. He also has two children.Stephen Kun graduated from Palmerton High School in 1961. He attended University of Wichita and East Stroudsburg University where he graduated in 1966 with a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Health and physical education,Kun was a health and physical education teacher at Pleasant Valley for 29 years. He also was the head coach for the Pleasant Valley Football team from 1969 through 1973. He also coached wrestling, and track for a number of years here at Pleasant Valley.While in high school at Palmerton, Steve was captain of the football team for two years and he was also a four-year letter winner in track and field.Kun was inducted into the Pennsylvania Carbon County Chapter of Football Sports Hall of Fame as well as the East Stroudsburg University Hall of Fame for the 1964 and 1965 football team.Kun lives in Palmerton and has a daughter. He was married to Sandy whom he shared 30 years until her passing in 1998.He retired from Pleasant Valley in 1996.George Litz graduated from Hughestown High School in 1954.Litz served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1954 through 1957.He then attended the University of Scranton and graduated with a bachelor of science in 1965.He attended East Stroudsburg University and acquired his certification in health and physical education in 1975.While at Pleasant Valley, Litz received a certificate of recognition for his work in establishing Pleasant Valley's SADD program, where he served as the advisor for many years. He was also the head boys' basketball coach for five years at Pleasant Valley.Litz initiated the Greater Pocono Youth Basketball program in 1972 for two divisions, fifth and sixth as well as the seventh and eighth grade divisions.Starting with six teams and growing to 45 teams, the tournanent is known as the Greater Pocono Tournament.Litz was also the Pocono Record Boys Basketball Coach of the Year for the 1973–1974 season.
