Walnutport woman allegedly used counterfeit money

A Walnutport woman used two counterfeit bills to buy $173 worth of items from Claire's in the Palmer Park Mall, noted state police.

Tonya R. Green, 52, of the 900 block of Woodland Drive, is charged with forgery and theft by deception. She is being held in lieu of $7,500 bail.Green bought merchandise worth $173 with nine $20 bills. Two of the bills were later tested with a counterfeit marker and deemed fake, police said.Police found an additional 68 $20 bills valued at $1,360 which are being tested for authenticity, police said.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 29.
