State police have charged and are searching for the son of Barnesville lawyer Gary D. Marchalk, who was murdered in his home on Monday.

Michael D. Marchalk, 37, also of Barnesville, was charged by state police with criminal homicide, murder of the first degree, murder of the second degree, murder of the third degree, voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, robbery, theft, theft of a motor vehicle, access device fraud, and recklessly endangering another person.

Michael D. Marchalk was last seen driving his parents' 2015 gold Ford Fusion, with license plate JWD1566.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 570-874-5300.

The charges were filed by Trooper Joseph W. Hall with District Judge Christina E. Hale of Frackville.

Police say Gary Marchalk was killed at 11:40 a.m. Monday in the family's home at 21 Pear St., where Michael also lived.

His body was found after someone called 911 Monday and reported someone in cardiac arrest at the couple's Ryan Township home.

Marchalk, 60, was pronounced dead at 12:04 p.m. by Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky.

An autopsy is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Wednesday by Forensic Pathology Associates at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Salisbury Township.

Gary Marchalk was estranged from his wife of 10 years, county Treasurer Linda Marchalk. He filed for divorce on May 11, according to county records.

Linda Marchalk had filed for divorce in 2010, according to records.

Gary Marchalk had a law practice based in Tamaqua, and with his wife operated Northeast Abstract LLC, a title insurance agency and affiliated accounting and tax firm.

State police at Frackville were assisted by the state police Troop L Major Case Team and the Forensic Service Unit in their investigation.

County District Attorney Christine Holman, who also lives in Barnesville and was friends with the couple, said she'll refer any criminal prosecution to the attorney general's office.
