The West End Park & Open Space Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building in Brodheadsville.Early dismissalPleasant Valley School District will follow each school's early dismissal schedule Thursday. Friday is a spring recess day. On Monday report cards are slated to be distributed.Holiday servicesEffort UMC: services for this coming holiday weekend include Maundy Thursday beginning with soup and breaking of bread in fellowship at 6 p.m. in Wesley Hall. On Friday there will be a Last Supper Service at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, there will be sunrise service at 7 a.m., outside if weather permits, and traditional services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.McMichaels UMC: Easter Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. including Holy Communion.Middlecreek Christian Church: 343 Dorshimer Road, Kresgeville, Good Friday service at 7 p.m., titled Love's Sacrifice. It will include hymns, special music, the Word of God and other creative writings. Easter morning there will be at 8 a.m. Hillside Service, located in the cemetery east of the church less than ¼ mile from the church, up an unmarked gravel road. That will be followed by a breakfast at the church. The 10:30 worship service will have special music by the choir in the sanctuary. The community is invited to join in the Resurrection celebration.Our Lady Queen of Peace Church: 8 a.m. morning prayer on Holy Thursday; a Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m.; and Adoration in McCawley Hall until 11 p.m. and a Night Prayer at 10:45 p.m. Good Friday includes a morning prayer at 8 a.m., the celebration of the Lord's Passion at 7 p.m., with the church open all day on Friday for those who would like to pray the Stations of the Cross. On Holy Saturday the schedule includes an 8 a.m. Morning Prayer, the Blessing of the Easter baskets at 1 p.m., the Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. and the Great Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. On Easter Sunday, there will be Mass at 8 and 11 a.m.Salem-St. Paul's Lutheran Church: in Kresgeville will worship at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday. The service will include Holy Communion and the Stripping of the Altar. On Good Friday it will be the Service of Shadows at 7 p.m. and on Easter Sunday the schedule is: Holy Communion at 7:30 a.m.; Easter Breakfast served from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m., but no classes; and again Holy Communion at the 10:30 service.St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown: Maundy Thursday covered dish supper at 6 p.m., followed by a dramatic telling of the Passion narrative at 7 p.m. On Good Friday the church will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for prayer and meditation. At 1:30 p.m. Pastor Suzanne will lead the church family in the Way of the Cross. The children's egg hunt is at 1 p.m. Saturday in the grove. On Easter Sunday there is a 6 a.m. dawn service in the grove; followed by a 7:30 breakfast in the fellowship hall and a 9 a.m. traditional Easter Communion in the church.St. Peter's UMC, Saylorsburg: Holy Thursday Communion service at 7:30 p.m. On Friday it will be the Ladies Good Friday brunch at 10 a.m. at the Chestnuthill Diner. Easter services include a Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m.; Christian Education at 8:45 a.m.; and the Easter worship celebration will be at 10 a.m.Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville: 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday worship service including the sacrament of Holy Communion and Stripping of the Altar. On Good Friday there will be a service at 7:30 p.m. Saturday worship at 5 p.m. will be a simple spoken service, and on Easter Sunday there will be a 6 a.m. sunrise service as well as services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. All services include music and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. There will be no Sunday school.Mission mealThe Thursday West End Mission Meal will be served at Our Lady Queen of Peace church in Gilbert this Thursday for those in need from 4:40 to 5:45 p.m., but it is takeout.School boardThe Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet in public session at 8 p.m. Thursday.Women's Club meetsThe Western Pocono Women's Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Effort United Methodist Church in Effort. Heidi Cebrick will speak about Project Healing Waters.This project is a joint venture with the ladies from Pocono Mountain Women's Club. The local club voted in March to take funds from the budget to pay for anything that would be needed as Project Healing Waters takes place on May 3 at the Indian Mountain Rod and Gun Club on Route 534 in Kresgeville.On April 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, club members will have a work day on Christmas cards for the military at Kinsley's ShopRite in Brodheadsville in the Community Room. The girls will be there from 10 a.m. to noon.
