The Lincoln Drive low-pressure sanitary sewer line project will cost Rush Township upward of $400,000.

The township's board of supervisors agreed on Thursday to award a contract to C&R Directional Boring LLC for $429,048, pending the review of ARRO Consulting Inc.The apparent low bid was $53,767 less than the next lowest proposal of $482,815 turned in by RGC Development LP.In all, 18 bids were turned in to the township.Other companies that bid were Wexcon Inc. ($483,249); Greenland Const. Inc. ($488,084); DOLI Construction Corp. ($536,251); Barrasso Excavation Inc. ($540,820); Arthur "Pat" Aungst Inc. ($547,955); Joao & Bradley Construction Co. Inc. ($662,289); Barwis Construction LLC ($674,806); Kobalt Construction ($694,350); Pioneer Construction Co. Inc. ($765,477); A.H. Moyer Inc. ($784,129); and Linde Corp. ($1,013,463).The project will consist of the installation of 12 grinder pump stations, 10 along Lincoln Avenue, and two along Claremont Avenue, as well as service laterals that will serve the existing property owners.It also calls for the installation of a 2-inch and 3-inch low-pressure sewer system along Lincoln Drive in a new right of way through private property, across Claremont Avenue, and along Tide Road to an existing manhole.Lincoln Drive is considered a state road, and must follow all Pennsylvania Department of Transportation guidelines for work and open-cut crossing of the roadway.Claremont Avenue is a state highway, and will require directional drilling or boring/casing to cross the highway with a 3-inch low-pressure sewer main that crosses beneath an existing Sunoco Pipeline LP high-pressure gas main, and must follow all gas company requirements and guidelines.The project also entails the interior lining of three existing manholes, the decommissioning of the existing residential septic systems, and restoration work for all areas that are disturbed during this project.All the work will be performed under one contract.The construction of the project will be funded in part by a federal grantfrom the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Community Development Block Grant program.In a related matter, the board authorized its solicitor and chairman to prepare and execute documents necessary for a letter of credit to be issued by Mauch Chunk Trust.ARRO Consulting Inc. is the project engineer.
