Six first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.David John Bodnar Sr., 62, of Tresckow, was placed on a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on Dec. 24by state police at Hazleton at Walnut and Oak streets in Banks Township. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.He was assessed $550 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Brian Mario Lepage, 38, of Belleville, New Jersey, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on July 31along Lake Drive in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.23 BAC.He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Daifrel Pena, 22, of Hazleton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on June 18by state police at Fern Ridge along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.Manual Antonio Rivera, 21, of Allentown, was placed for 18 months on two pending charges of retail theft. Both incidents occurred on Feb. 8 in Mahoning Township, one at the Walmart store and the second at the Giant Market.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 75 hours of community service, make restitution to Walmart for $569.14 (his share as there is a co-defendant) and $111.62 to Giant and to stay out of both stores.Mackensie Hunter Roth, 20, of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Dec. 31by state police at Fern Ridge along South Lake Drive in Kidder Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 90 days.Roberto Santiago Jr., 40, of Lansford, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Aug. 17along Route 93 by Nesquehoning police. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and those charged with DUI, follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
