A Palmerton man who grabbed a woman's purse and then burglarized a home for a change of clothes in March told Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic Friday he was "on drugs and not in my right mind" that day.
Anthony Borrelli, 29, pleaded guilty to robbery, criminal trespass and theft. Nanovic deferred sentencing pending a presentence investigation and the possibility Borrelli could get into a long-term drug rehabilitation program.According to police, Borrelli snatched a woman's purse as she walked along the street at about 12:30 p.m. March 27. Two men gave chase, and saw Borrelli enter a home in the 300 block of Lehigh Avenue through an unlocked front door.Borough detective Kevin Buck tried to go after Borrelli, but he had locked both the front and back doors. Buck contacted the woman who lived there, who said she would immediately come home from work and open a door.Patrolman Daniel Magarelli then saw Borrelli exit from the back door of the attached home. Borrelli had kicked through an attic partition separating the homes.Borrelli had ransacked several drawers and changed into clothing from a closet in the first home.Borrelli was caught at the Delaware Apartments and arrested.
