W. Penn may hold online meetings in response to coronavirus

West Penn Township may hold online meetings only for the foreseeable future in response to the coronavirus.

Ken Dunkelberger, Chief Operating Officer for the Tamaqua Area School District, reviewed possibilities with the board of supervisors this week.

Dunkelberger told the board two possibilities for online meetings are Zoom or GoToMeeting video conferencing apps.

The board instructed Dunkelberger to look into the matter.

Supervisors also took the following precautions as well:

• Board solicitor Paul J. Datte said in the event the township doesn’t have a public meeting in the near future, that two of the three supervisors approve the bills then so they can be paid automatically.

• Datte’s also recommended that if public meetings cannot be held, supervisors and the emergency management coordinator should conduct emergency business.
