Five defendants entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court this week to driving under the influence charges.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:Keri Ann Highfield, 31, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on Feb. 26 along White Bear Drive by Summit Hill police. She refused to submit to a blood test.Matika sentenced her to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Jan. 2, 2017.Harryette L. Cipoletti, 56, of Andreas, was arrested on Aug. 11 along Ben Salem Road in East Penn Township by state police at Lehighton, A test revealed a 0.26 BAC.She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Carissa Noel Dickinson, 32, of Factoryville, Wyoming County, was arrested on Feb. 20 along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 25 hours of community service.She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Jan. 2, 2017.William Fulton Ashmore Jr., 28, of Lansford, was arrested on May 12 along Mermon Avenue by Nesquehoning police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred because Ashmore needs a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Paul Oscar Schock, 51, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 15 along Route 443 in Mahoning Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Jan. 6 and serve it consecutive weekends of two, two and one day.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
