Ex-WWE diva to stand trial in Carbon
A former World Wrestling Entertainment diva will have DUI-related charges bound over to Carbon County Court.
Tamara Lynn Sytch, 42, of Palmerton, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
Instead, Sytch opted to waive her right to the hearing, and will appear Nov. 10 in the district attorney's office at the Carbon County Courthouse in Jim Thorpe.
In the first incident, Sytch faces charges on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, and one count each of driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, driving vehicle at safe speed, and reckless driving.
For the second incident, Sytch faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance and several driving violations.
Formerly known as WWE Diva "Sunny," Sytch remains free in lieu of $500 unsecured bail in both cases.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Jonathan Lazarchick of the Pennsylvania State Police:
On June 1 at around 9:35 a.m. Lazarchick was traveling north on Interchange Road when he observed a brown Dodge Caliber to be traveling in front of him.
Lazarchick said he observed the vehicle cross the solid center yellow lines several times. He then saw the vehicle cross into the opposite lane of travel.
A traffic stop was made in the area of 10510 Interchange Road. Lazarchick said the driver was unable to provide a driver's license and proof of insurance.
The driver was identified at Sytch by conducting an NCIC check.
Lazarchick said Sytcvh's eyes were bloodshot and glassie, and she smelled like alcohol.
Lazarchick observed 12 bottles labeled Coors Light on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle. He said one was open, and with a cap lying on the passenger side floor next to the bottle.
Sytch said she was on her way to the store to purchase eggs and milk, and that she had been drinking the night before.
Lazarchick said Sytch was slurring her words, and asked her to get out of her vehicle to perform a field sobriety test.
Lazarchick said Sytch was having a difficult time attempting to put her flip flops on her feet. As Sytch got out of her car, Lazarchick saw her stagger, attempt to keep her balance, and use her vehicle to help her balance.
Lazarchick attempted to conduct a sobriety test, but Sytch was unable to maintain her balance several times.
As a result, Lazarchick said he ended the test for Sytch's safety.
Lazarchick asked Sytch to perform a Portable breath test, which she failed.
She was taken to Palmerton Hospital, where the phlebotomist withdraw from her right thumb because she was unable to locate a vein in both of Sytch's arms.
Her blood-alcohol content was 0.3 percent.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Cpl. Shawn Noonan of the Pennsylvania State Police:
Sytch's 2008 Dodge Caliber ended up in a ditch at the intersection of Gun Club Road and Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township at 10:40 p.m. June 20.
Noonan talked to Sytch, who said her GPS told her to make a sudden turn.
She said she took the turn too wide and ended up in the ditch. She said she tried to back the car out of the ditch but it would not move.
Noonan said he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and she also had glassie, bloodshot eyes and her speech was slurred.
Sytch told Noonan she had been drinking earlier in the day.
Noonan asked Sytch to perform field sobriety tests, but she said she was in too much pain due to her recently blacking out and falling down the steps.
Noonan placed her under arrest for DUI and transported her back to the barracks for a breath test. The results of her test were 0.078 percent.
Police said Sytch didn't have a valid driver's license in any state.
