Lehighton Borough Council approved the following:

• An additional principal payment on the fire station construction loan. In 2013, the Fire Station Construction Loan was established. Original amounts were $3,832,847 from sewer reserves and $328,273 from Light and Power reserves. As of Dec. 31, the balances were $1,850,193 from sewer and $250,326 from L&P. The principal payment to sewer is $65,293.• The application for third payment in the amount of $123,606 to Kobalt Construction for the Colonel Jacob Weiss Park project, specifically for the majority of concrete, curbing and landscaping.• Phase 1 masonry repairs at the Pfc. Clyde P. Houser Annex Building for $19,300.• Purchase of a 2016 CAT Cold Planner (milling head) for $25,100.• An ordinance prohibiting truck traffic on Gypsy Hill Road, which restricts oversized vehicles that are over 21,000 pounds and exceeding 28½ feet.• Adopted the purchase/procurement card policy, which establishes procedures for the use of the purchase/procurement card to purchase goods and services in order to recognize an economic and financial benefit that will allow the borough to take advantage of rebates that are earned with purchase volume.• A request by the Peaceful Knights to hold a Crusade for the Homeless from 8 a.m. to noon July 16.• A request by Shull-David Elementary School to hold a Zombie Zoom 5K Run/Walk from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 22.• The second annual Snowflake 5K and 1-Mile Remembrance Walk at 9 a.m. Dec. 10.• Appointed Judy Wingert to the Shade Tree Commission.• Approved Alex Rubin and Kayle Glanz as lifeguards.
