Weissport police issue report

Weissport Police Officer Steve Armbruster reported that in the past four weeks he handled two public drunkenness incidents, a burglary in the 200 block of White Street that included the theft of a .38 caliber revolver, an online theft, cruelty to animals, in which a cat was shot by a cross bow. He said there are two possible suspects.

He also assisted two other departments, one being with Franklin Township, which included an assist with a motorist who was suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) with a suspended license. He also investigated an online harassment incident, where prosecution was denied.Armbruster said that there is a rather large group of people with possible mental health issues living underneath the trestle. He believes that the number could be as high as 40 people, who hop the trains for transportation to and from the area. He said that he is unaware of any area agencies who might be willing to help them. He said that there is a growing problem because they often walk through town under the influence of alcohol.
