A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred on May 18 about 8:13 p.m.
Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to Kings Way, in Pocono Farms East Community, in Tobyhanna, to a report of an auto accident.On scene, officers found Kevin Santiago, 19, of Tobyhanna, behind the wheel of a Hyundai sedan. Police said Santiago was negotiating a curve when he lost control and his vehicle came to rest against a tree along the berm.Santiago showed signs of intoxication and open containers of alcoholic beverages were found in the vehicle. Santiago was placed under arrest and submitted to a blood test.Based on the results of the test, Santiago was charged with DUI, a minor not to operate with alcohol in system, and underage possession, consumption, and transportation of alcohol.
