State police at Lehighton reported investigating the following crashes.
A crash occurred about 4:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, along Blue Mountain Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Ronald A. Anthony, 58, of Kunkletown, was driving a 1986 Honda Magna southbound and attempted to pass several vehicles stopped for a red traffic light at Mountain Trail Drive.Anthony crossed the double yellow line and began traveling south in the northbound lane as James R. Downing, 26, of Palmerton, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz, was making a left-hand turn into the Blue Mountain Ski Area. The Magna struck the Cruz, troopers said.Anthony sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. Downing and his passenger, Karleen R. Caparro, 26, of Palmerton, were both not injured. Damages were disabling to the Cruz, which had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited Anthony for overtaking a vehicle on the left.A two vehicle crash occurred about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, along Old Route 115, near Anchorage Rd., in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Sandra C. Bjerre, 66, of Effort, was slowing in the far right lane while northbound for a deer crossing the road in front of her. Rebecca S. Keiper, 35, of Kresgeville, failed to see Bjerre slowing and the front of her 1998 Nissan Altma struck the rear of Bjerre's 1998 Honda Accord. Keiper was not wearing a seat belt, troopers noted. No one was injured.Troopers cited Keiper for following too closely.
