Monroe crash leads to DUI count

A Monroe County crash led the a driver facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). The DUI arrest is one of two reported by the Pocono Mountain Regional police.

Police said on May 12 officers responded to a one car crash along SR611, between Midway Road and SR423. The investigation revealed that Jason Mitchell, 26, of Tobyhanna, was northbound at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass another vehicle by going off the road and onto the shoulder. He lost control of his car and crashed into the guard rail.Mitchell was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.The second DUI arrest occurred on Sunday, May 15, about 2:40 a.m. along SR940 at SR423. Police stopped a vehicle for speeding, 67 miles-per-hour in a 45 zone. The driver was identified as Christopher Bramley, 38, of Pocono Pines. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken for a chemical test, police said.The DUI charge is pending the test results.
