State police at Lehighton reported they are investigating the death of a white man whose body was found on Sunday along the Lehigh River, about three-quarters of a mile north of the Bowmanstown Boat Launch in Lower Towamensing Township.
Troopers said the victim, who has yet not been identified, is about 20-40 years old.The body was found by kayakers around 2 p.m. as they paddled down the river, initial reports state.A Lehighton Fire Department water rescue boat and Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller accompanied state police at the scene.An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Tuesday.Troopers ask anyone with information concerning this incident to call the barracks at 610-681-1850.Troopers said in a press release that further details "regarding this investigation will be disseminated appropriately at that time."
