The budget for Washington Township shows a general fund income of $1,520,215. The budget was to be advertised the day after the Nov. 1 supervisors' meeting.

Major sources of income are real estate taxes, $134,000; per capita tax of $19,000; earned income tax of $800,000, cable franchise tax of $117,000 and inspection fees of $10,500.Major general fund expenses are legal fees, 15,000; secretary's salary, $40,000; clerk, $29,000; manager, $58,000; engineering services, $25,000; Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority, $20,000; Firemen's Relief Association, $42,500; contributions to fire companies, $70,000; salaries, $229,195; supplies and maintenance of roads, $250,000; pension fund, $52,100; and Central Pa. Teamsters Health, $208,000. Contributions of $1,000 each are made to the library and Wildlife Information Center.The sewer fund has income and expenses of $513,000. The state highway fund of $423,309 is partially a carry-over of $106,059. It is limited by the state in its use. Capital purchases were $22,400 and repairs to a bridge were $400,909.A four-year loan will be used to purchase a Case backhoe with 3.5 percent interest. This will have no bearing on the general fund and will be met with four annual payments.Resignations were received from Sally Mantz, assistant secretary-treasurer, as of Dec. 31 and from JoAnn Ahner, secretary-treasurer, as of Feb. 1, 2017. She has served for 25 years.All plans were tabled. On the agenda were Georges Michel Azar, Dollar General land development, and Richard Smith.Sherry Graver, emergency management coordinator, held a meeting with the three fire chiefs in the township concerning continuing the smoke alarm installations for residents. It will stress elementary school installations and more homes. The firefighters will be discussing emergency plans with the elementary schools.
