A Lansford man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court to flight to avoid apprehension, but also learned that violating a probation period can get you a lot more prison time.

David Anderson Frangioudakis, 28, appeared before Judge Joseph J. Matika to plead to the charge for an incident on Dec. 16, 2016, in Lansford. Police saw him operating a vehicle and knew he was under suspension and had a warrant for his arrest. He ran after he was stopped, but he was caught.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered him get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 100 hours of community service.After the sentencing proceeding Matika conducted a probation revocation hearing on a petition filed by the adult probation office. Frangioudakis admitted to violating the terms of his Intermediate Punishment Program placement on a DUI charge.Matika told him, "I place people in the IPP as a privilege. I take it personally, like a slap in the face, when a person violates it."Matika resentenced him to serve nine months to five years in prison with credit for 79 days already served.Frangioudakis' problems with the law are not over. After he serves his Carbon term he will be turned over to officials in Schuylkill County where he has a criminal charge pending.
