Woman admits to thefts at Walmart; DUI charge

A Lehigh County woman pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Tuesday to multiple counts of retail theft at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township, and in another case, to driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Jennifer Suemarie Miller, 38, of Allentown, pleaded to three counts of retail theft and one of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft at the township store.She was arrested for the Walmart incidents on May 7 (twice), June 17 and Nov. 11, 2016.In the November theft she had a co-defendant.The DUI occurred on Dec. 17, 2015, along Mill Road filed by Mahoning Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She is currently an inmate at the Lehigh County prison where she is awaiting action of probation/parole revocation proceedings and has pending criminal matters in Northampton County.Judge Joseph J. Matika, who accepted the pleas, told Miller on the DUI charge, a third offense, she faces a mandatory minimum prison term of one year up to five years. She also faces restitution of over $2,600.Matika deferred sentencing because Miller needs a drug and alcohol evaluation for the DUI charge.He also ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
