Charges move forward for no shows in court

Five defendants failed to appear for their preliminary hearing on July 11 in the court of District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer.

Two defendants who did appear, and went forward with their hearing, had their charges held for trial in the Schuylkill County Courts.The no shows included:Colleen J. Arner, 59, of New Ringgold, was charged with theft by deception and theft of services by Rush Township Patrolman Ryan Oldt. The charges are from Feb. 24, 2015;Evans Zackery Olivo, 21, of Port Folk, faces charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment from an Aug. 1, 2016 incident. The charges were filed by McAdoo Patrolman Frederick Lahovski;Bryan Ventura, 19, of Hazleton, was charged with making repairs/selling an offensive weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a May 21 incident. The charges were filed by McAdoo Patrolman William Curilla;Darrien Joshua Brown, 22, of Hazleton, was charged with promoting prostitution by McAdoo Patrolman Lahovski. The charges were filed in connection with a June 2 incident;Stephen W. Bennett, 55, of Tamaqua, was charged with disorderly conduct after an Oct. 22, 2016 incident. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Colin Leibensperger.Phillip Michael Ryan IV, 28, of Tamaqua, was in court to answer to three separate incidents, with charges filed by three different law enforcement agencies.On March 2, he was charged with escape by Schuylkill County Detective Martin Heckman. Ryan waived this charge to court.Bail remained at $10,000 straight cash.Hearings were held on the other two sets of charges, with all of the charges sent to the county level.On May 13, Ryan was charged with retail theft and escape by McAdoo Patrolman Lahovski.bail remained at $10,000 straight.On June 11, Tamaqua Patrolman Timothy Walsh charged Ryan with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.Bail for those charges remains at $50,000 straight, which Ryan was unable to post.Michelle Lynn Kondash, 32, of McAdoo, had a hearing on charges of simple assault and harassment, filed by McAdoo Patrolman Lahovski. Both charges, which stem from a June 24 incident, were held for court trial.She was released on $5,000 bail.Jose Antonio Santana Jr.,31, had charges of simple assault and harassment withdrawn. They were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Christian DeAngelo after a June 4 incident.
