Weissport Borough Council said electricity to a bell tower in the borough park was disconnected because people were stealing electricity to charge their cellphones.

It was reported that two people were seen charging their cellphones at the site. One councilman said at least four phones were being charged at times."Isn't that theft of services?" one council member asked.Not necessarily, responded attorney Gregory Mousseau, the borough solicitor.He said there is no sign indicating cellphones are not permitted to be charged there. And if there were signs, they would have to be in two languages.In other business, councilman Arland Moyer said the borough is seeking applications for a part-time laborer.One of the existing part-time workers is allergic to bee stings.Moyer asked if the borough would be responsible for replacing that worker's EpiPen if he had to use it to counter the allergic reaction to the sting.The solicitor said since it is a part-time worker, the borough wouldn't be responsible for the EpiPen cost. However, if the worker had to go to the hospital because of the sting reaction, there could be some borough obligation.The council then went into executive session to discuss the matter. No action on this topic occurred after the executive session.In one other matter, a resident said she knows of instances where suspected drug transactions are being filmed in the borough.Mayor Jonathan Troutman urged that more residents become proactive in such matters.
