Hit-and-run driver being sought

A hit-and-run driver is being sought in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 9:24 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, along SR61 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Shannon M. Roman, 36, of Hamburg, was southbound driving a 2003 Kia Sedona when a driver made a right turn from the parking lot of the 3 C's restaurant without any headlights on, to go south on 61.The Kia struck the other vehicle. After impact the other driver fled southbound.Damages to the Kia were disabling and Roman sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 739-1330.Troopers also reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 2:41 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, along SR209 in East Norwegian Township.Troopers said Ellen P. Schwartz, 19, of Cressona, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound and leaving Port Carbon while negotiating a left curve. The Aveo entered a stone parking area off the eastbound lane causing Schwartz to lose control. The car re-entered the road, traveled across the westbound lane, and struck a utility pole along the berm. After impact the Aveo spun clockwise and came to rest facing east in the westbound lane.Schwartz was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. The Aveo was towed from the scene.Troopers cited Schwartz for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
